Satan actually means adversary this is the obstacle to our spiritual life's progress. Worldly temptations must be overcome and spiritual obstacles will undoubtedly attack and obstruct our progress for Satan seeks to obstruct the soul from finding freedom and love in God. Satan would rather rule over us in this life and in the next.
All Heroes and champions in religions receive gifts from their gods. So it is the the One True God bestows upon us gifts to fight and overcome the adversary.
So accept the gifts bestowed by Mary your mother, Jesus Christ the Holy Spirit and from the Father of all creation.
